Gabriele (Bar) Kirby

August 19, 1958 ~ October 28, 2018 (age 60)

Gabriele Kirby Bär known to many as Gaby, passed away Sunday, October 28th, 2018 at the young age of 60.  Gaby was born in Karlsruhe, Germany to Siegfried and Doris Bär. Gaby graduated from Viktor-v.-Scheffel-Schule Schulstraße.3. While she loved her home country, she was lured to the United States by a red headed freckled faced American Soldier.  Gaby had resided in Crawfordsville since moving to the States in 1977.

Gaby’s most important roles were that of a mother and a grandmother.  She managed to have 4 very stubborn and difficult children that she loved unconditionally.  Those that know her children know exactly the kind of challenges she faced.  Nevertheless, she persisted.   Over the years, she held positions at Wabash College, Holiday Inn, the Crawfordsville City Building holding housekeeping and custodial roles.  Gaby loved being an Oma and she ensured her grandchildren knew that while she showered them with love, sweets and gifts.

Gaby is survived by her parents, Siegfried and Doris Bär, brother Andreas Bär, sons Shawn Todd, Andreas Kirby, Chris (Lacey) Todd, daughter Nicole (Beth) Todd, grandchildren, Kane Todd, Mackenzie Todd, Aiden Kirby, and Olivia Baughn-Todd.
