Alice Marie (Aters) Organ, age 87 of Dolton, IL passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Franciscan Health in Crawfordsville. She was born in Sugar Tree Ridge, Missouri on June 29, 1939 to the late Charles "Gus" August and Marie (Johnson) Aters.
Alice's journey of love began on December 13, 1956, when she married Whitson "Whit" Organ, the man she had known and adored since childhood. Their bond was a testament to true love, lasting a lifetime filled with laughter, joy, and resilience. Together, they raised a family that became the center of Alice's world.
Known for her warm and gracious spirit, Alice was a remarkable homemaker who poured her heart into her baking and her vast collection of cookbooks. Her sweet treats, especially her brownies and cookie bars, brought smiles to countless faces and made any gathering feel special. Alice's humble nature and caring heart left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Alice will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, her smile, her laughter, and the simple joys of life.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Whit Organ; a daughter, Debra Edwards; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Stephanie) Edwards, Brian (Miranda) Edwards, Christa (Lane) Edwards, Bess Edwards, Sara Organ, Bruce Jr. Organ, Michael Organ and Zachary Organ; seven great grandchildren, Haley, Claire, Josie, Cooper, Cole, Lucas, and Conor; four brothers, Floyd Aters, Paul (Janie) Aters, Terry (Debbie) Aters and Ricky (Debbie) Aters; four sisters, Rosetta Branam, Shirley Johnson, Thelma (Charles) Wasson, and Penny (Carl) Simpkins; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Bruce Organ; and three brothers, R.J. Aters, Jimmy Aters, and Bobby Aters.
