Anthony James Hobson

Anthony "Tony" James Hobson, age 75, of Waynetown, passed away on July 21, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Covington on October 1, 1950 to the late Arnold Lee and Ida Imogene (Walters) Hobson.

Tony graduated from Waynetown High School in 1969, proudly belonging to the class known as the F-Troop. On October 8, 2004, he married Malissa (Mitchell) Ross on the front porch of their old farmhouse. Together, they created a hobby farm, filled with horses, chickens, goats, ponies, and peacocks. Tony found great joy in caring for the animals, tending to his koi pond, and raising birds.

Throughout his life, Tony made a lasting impression on his community as a chef and bartender. He owned and operated several local restaurants and also shared his passion for food and service while working at others. He became especially well known for his delicious homemade pies.

Tony will be remembered for his contagious laughter and vibrant personality. He had the ability to connect with others and make people laugh. There was never a dull moment when he was around. Tony enjoyed dancing and having a good time.

Anthony will "Always and Forever" be missed by his wife of 21 years; daughter Roseanna (Amy Spencer) Ross; bonus children, Jay and Niki Hurt; grandchildren, Jaxon Cox, Lily Bridgham, Elise and Elijah Hurt; sister Linda Arrigo; nieces, Angie Arrigo and Monica (Chris) Sprong, his great niece and nephews, who were more like grandchildren, Darrick (Athena) Holt, Zachariah and Zoe Sprong; and his beloved fur kids, Halo and Ida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arnold (Jackie) and John Hobson; and nephew, Phil Hobson.

Visitation will be held at Sanders Funeral Care, 202 Bratton Road in Waynetown on Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 12:00 Noon until the time of funeral service at 2:00 Pm with Steve Bray officiating.
