Charles Edward Humphreys, age 83 of Waynetown, passed away on July 3, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 9, 1943 and later adopted by the late Russell and Eulala (Rasor) Humphreys in Crawfordsville. Charlie married Marion "Chere" Potter on September 16, 1966 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was a graduate of Waynetown High School, Class of 1961. After graduating, Charlie joined the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country for 22 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1982. Charlie was committed to caring for his family, always having part-time jobs along with his military career. After retirement, Charlie and Chere returned to Montgomery County and he continued his career as a hoist and forklift driver at B&L Engineering and delivering newspapers for several local papers.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Charlie was interested in genealogy and also volunteered with Chere taking photos and documenting the local cemeteries. In his spare time, he crafted beautiful furniture with wood and metal works. He was an all-around handyman but was mostly known for his sense of humor.

Charlie will be missed by his loving wife, Chere Humphreys; children, Charles (Erin) Humpheys, Carole (Kevin) Middleton and Cassandra (Erich) Brackmann; 15 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Sanders Funeral Care, 202 Bratton Road in Waynetown from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm. Burial and military honors provided by the United States Air Force and American Legion, Post 72, will follow at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
