Dale Eugene Cates, age 84 of Kingman, went to be with his Lord and Savior on his 84th birthday, September 20, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Kingman on September 20, 1938 to the late Keith & Irene (Meade) Cates.
Dale graduated from Kingman High School in 1956 and Purdue University in 1960 with a bachelor's degree in Agriculture and proudly served his country in the United States Army. On November 26, 1960 he married the love of his life, Anna Marie Dillon. Dale was a lifelong farmer, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Eastern Star, a Gideon, and member of the Cates Community Church. In years past he was on the Fountain County Council, Soil and Water Board, Zoning Board, and Covington School Board. He loved reading, woodworking, traveling, playing Euchre, golfing, his yearly fishing trip with "OHB", riding his motorcycle and snowmobile, and flying his Cherokee plane.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anna; three daughters, Dale Annette (Craig) Neth of Hollis, NH, Cynthia Jean (David) Zinn of Zionsville, and Donna Marie (Michael) Leach of Indianapolis; a son, Kevin Eugene (Jenny) Cates of Kingman; nine grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachel, Kimberly, Grayson, Sydney, Hanna, Chelsea (Dylan), Jared (Alexis), and Kyle (fiancé-Allison); three great-granddaughters, Brooklyn, Anna, and Eden; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Norma Cates and Carolyn (Phil) White; a granddaughter, Alyssa Zinn; and great granddaughter, Elise Market.
Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street in Kingman on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm with a Masonic Service at 6:45 pm. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 10:00 am with Pastor Dusty Woodrow officiating. The service will be recorded which can be viewed on his obituary page at www.sandersfuneralcare.com. Burial will follow at Kingman Fraternal Cemetery with military honors by the United States Army and Legion Post 72 Honor Guard.
