Donald Simpson

Donald Royce Simpson, age 96, of Crawfordsville passed away on Thursday, June 26 2025 at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville. He was born in Montgomery County on July 13, 1928 to the late Ray E. and Lilly Grace (Peters) Simpson.

Donald graduated from Waveland High School, Class of 1946. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his service, Donald spent all his life farming in Montgomery County. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed.

Donald married Elizabeth Hockersmith on March 10, 1972 at Faith Baptist Church, she survives. He was a member at Eastside Baptist Church for many years.

Donald is survived by his wife of 53 years, Liz and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, James Albert (Lois) Simpson, Doris M. (Tom & Fred) Jefferies-Bazzani, Lowell B. (Bettie) Simpson, Ruby (Oscar) Moody, Forest E. (Ethel) Simpson, Charles William (Virginia) Simpson, Gerald "Lee" (Margaret) Simpson, and Austin Merle (Lucy) Simpson.

A visitation will be held at Sanders Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington Street in Crawfordsville on Monday, June 30, 2025 from 9:00 am until the time of funeral service at 11:00 am with Military Honors provided by the United States National Guard. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery.
