George F. Borders, age 74 of Crawfordsville passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at St. Vincent Seton Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Richmond, IN on May 29, 1945 to the late Carl & Virginia (Butcher) Borders.
George graduated from Mentone High School in 1963 and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963-1966 and was stationed in Germany reaching rank of Sargent E5. George was a contractor most of his working years, building apartment complexes, homes, and was a roofing expert.
On October 17, 1984, he married the love of his life, Judith, whom he referred to as his “Babydoll”, she survives. He is also survived by his 2 sons, Jeff Borders and Brian Borders both of Crawfordsville; 3 step-children, Jennifer (Tim) Matthews of Walker, Louisiana, Jeffery Wayne (Rochelle) Turner, and Amy (Bobby) Killmon both of Indianapolis; 2 sisters, Neva Sexton of Syracuse, Indiana and Avenell Borders of North Manchester, Indiana; several grandchildren; and 2 great grandkids, Joseph and Saige.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lois Roberts.
George loved to attend church and was such a good song leader. He always had a smile on his face and loved to be a door-greeter at church. He loved to speak about the Lord at nursing homes where he and his wife, Judy, would sing gospel songs. He loved people. He loved to reminisce and laugh talking with his 2 sisters about their lives growing up. He loved to talk to people and never saw a stranger. Judy told him he was a “politician” and she was his “press secretary”!
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11:00am at New Life Apostolic Church, 1434 Darlington Ave, in Crawfordsville, officiated by Pastor Terry Gobin and Rev. Bobby Killmon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, 1104 Big 4 Arch Road, Crawfordsville, IN 47933. Sanders Priebe Funeral Care entrusted with care.
