Gladys Carpenter

Gladys Irene (Delp) Carpenter, age 82, passed away in her Wallace home on Friday, December 6, 2024. She was born June 30, 1942 in Perrysville, Indiana to Chester and Thelma (Scott) Delp. She married Larry D. Carpenter March 19, 1961. He passed September 15, 1995.

Survivors include, sisters, Nina (Clarence) Rudolph and Jody Delp; brothers, Jarvis and Lonnie Delp; son, Larry "Sonny" Carpenter; daughter, Katherine Beckley; son-in-law, Keith Peacock; grandchildren, Christy (Israel) Meagher, Angela Beckley, Corey Beckley, Allen Peacock, Jessica Peacock Bowden and Jacob Peacock; 15 great grandchildren and numerous neighbors and friends throughout Wallace.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry; a daughter, Rita Peacock; sisters, Margaret Delp, Helen Gebhart, and Mary Delp; and brothers, Howard, Chester Jr, Bill, Bud Sherald, and Tommy Delp.

Gladys looked forward to a heavenly reunion with Jesus, and a reunion with those who went before her, especially her husband and daughter. Born into a large family, Gladys learned to share early on. This generous spirit characterized her life. For decades Gladys kept sweet treats on hand to offer every child and adult who passed through her doors. Although often playful, she also offered a listening ear, the best hugs, and gentle words of encouragement; reminding others to know what she meant, not what she said.

Gladys will be missed as a beloved a mother, sister, grandma and friend.
