John Leslie Collins, age 59, of Crawfordsville, passed away doing what he loved, playing disc golf with his family and friends. He was born on January 17, 1966 to the late Fredrick Elam and Shirley Joanne (Perkins) Collins.
John never knew a stranger. He worked for many years as a supervisor in construction in the Crawfordsville and Indianapolis areas. John loved a good joke or prank, the bigger the reaction the harder he laughed. He was an avid mushroom hunter and had "his spots".
John retired 10 years after an unexpected heart attack. If you knew John, you knew it only slowed him down for a little while. After his retirement, he spent his time as a vendor at flea markets. John enjoyed traveling across the country taking in all of the scenery America has to offer. His favorite destination was Okeechobee, Florida where he visited often.
John was a fantastic father and great friend to many. If any of his family or friends needed anything, he was always a phone call away.
John will be deeply missed by the family and many friends that were more like family. He was excited about welcoming his first grandchild in February 2026.
John is survived by sons, Jayden (Casandra) Collins and Craig (Erin) Rush; sisters, Debbie (Steve) Anderson and Kathy Stahl; brothers, Eddie (Cheryl) Collins and Michael Collins; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 2646 S. 550 E. in Crawfordsville on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm. Sanders Funeral Care is entrusted with care. Share memories and condolences online at www.SandersFuneralCare.com.
