Julia Dehne, age 94 of Crawfordsville, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Ben Hur Health and Rehabilitation. She was born in London, England on March 15, 1931. Julia was a child when the German's were bombing London. Her parents were killed in the bombing and the four children were put in an orphanage. Julia had both eardrums ruptured from the bombing and was deaf all her life.
She worked at a hotel in London, England. Lex Clore from Crawfordsville stayed there several times and met Julia. She said her dream was to come to America and he invited her to visit. He said he had no children and his wife had died. On the third visit to America, she stayed. Mr. Clore died in 1978.
Julia worked at the Riviera Motel in Crawfordsville as a maid for 40 years. She had many babysitting jobs, cleaned houses and worked at the Ben Hur Nursing Home as a volunteer in the activities department. Her friends and neighbors loved her and all that knew her will miss her dearly.
Cremation was chosen with a Memorial Service at the Wabash Ave Presbyterian Church, 307 S Washington St, in Crawfordsville on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 1:30pm. Sanders Funeral Care entrusted with care. Share memories and condolences online at www.SandersFuneralCare.com.
