Kenneth Dale Wolf

April 12, 1925 — August 12, 2015

Mr. Kenneth Dale Wolf, age 90, of rural Crawfordsville, IN. passed away peacefully August 12th at Mulberry Health and Retirement at Mulberry, IN. surrounded by family. Kenneth was born to Francis and Opal (Wood) Wolf on April 12, 1925 at Mansfield, Illinois. He graduated from Wingate High School where he had met, fell in love with and later married Viola Hauk on September 14, 1945 in the chapel of the Army air Force Base at Sebring, Florida. Mr. Wolf also attended Arizona State College.

Staff Sargent Wolf served in the Army Air Force as a B-17 tailgunner in the 8th Army Air force, 452 Bomber Group and flew in 23 missions over Germany during World War II. earning numerous medals including 3 bronze stars. During his overseas military service he survived a mid-air colllision while returning from a bombing mission over Germany. this collision is documented in the book "Latters Home" bu Nan Snow.

Mr. Wolf was the President and co-owner of Wolf and Himes Fertilizer of Wingate, being the first in the state to offer liquid fertilizer to area farmers increasing their crop growth and harvesting profits. He was an elder of the former Elmdale Community Church, attended Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ in Wingate, co-founder of the Wingate Sweet Corn Festival and a member of the American Legion, Waynetown Masonic Lodge and the NRA. He served on the board of directors of Tipmont REMC for 21 years. He enjoyed farming, fishing and life in general.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Viola (Hauk); his paretns Francis and Opal (Wood) Wolf; son richard Wolf; brother Robert Wolf and sons-in-laws Charles Williams and Terry Maxwell.

Mr. Wolf is survived by his daughters Suzanne Williams of Indianapolis, IN. and Barbara (Larry) Baker of Greencastle; Daughter-in-law Debra (Lee) Merryman of Crawfordsville, IN. and 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Kenneth was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed being surrounded by his family and supervizing the annual family Easter Egg Hunt. although we are celebrating his going home to be with his Lord and Savior, he was a joy to all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from Noon until 2:00pm Sunday August 16th with funeral services and Masonic services immediatly following at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Waynetown, IN. with Rev. alan Goff and Rev. George Smith officiating. Kenneth will be laid to reast at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with Millitary Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to "Mulberry Health and Retirement, 501 W.
