Laurel D. Lehr

Laurel "Red" D. Lehr, age 89 of Crawfordsville, passed away on December 31, 2025 at Franciscan Health East in Lafayette. He was born on October 19, 1936 to Albert and Lillian (Carson) Lehr at home in Cloverdale, Indiana. Laurel married Edith Marie Smith on June 5, 1958 in Pyrmont, Indiana, spending over 25 loving years together until her passing on February 16, 1983.

Laurel worked at RR Donnelley for 21 years, where he was referred to as "Red." In 1986, he worked at Mac's Auto Electric in Crawfordsville, retiring in 2001. Laurel was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and a full-time minister in the Crawfordsville Congregation, since his baptism in 1971. Laurel found true joy in talking to people, sharing scriptures and connecting with others over the love of Jehovah. In his spare time, he was often found tinkering on cars and helping people fix their vehicles. In his later years, Laurel enjoyed a quiet day working on jigsaw puzzles.

Laurel is survived by his children, Marlene (Terry) Tuttle, Byron (Candra) Lehr and Marcie (Bill) Simpson; grandchildren; Michael (Erin), Ashley (Logan), Amber (Jayme), Shannon (Levi), Stephanie (Kasey) and Melissa; and great-grandchildren, Liam, Joel, Dashel, Abigail, Oliver, Nolan and Billy Joe. He will also be missed by his brother, Ronnie (Janet) Lehr; sister, Gloria Lehr; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Laurel was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edith; son, Rick Lehr; grandchildren, Derek and Desiree; brothers, Alvie, Kenny and Calvin; and sisters, Reva and Violet.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Crawfordsville, from 3:00 pm until the time of the service at 4:00 pm.
