Lester Eugene "Gene" Spencer, 79, Mace, passed away Sunday, July 17, at 4:38 PM, at his home. He was born August 29, 1931 in Martin County, Indiana, to Lester Earl and Beatrice (Johnson) Spencer. He married Patsy Brady on March 3, 1951 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She survives.

Mr. Spencer retired in 1989 from the Crawfordsville Post Office. He attended Martin County Schools; was a U S Air Force Korean War Veteran; raised prized pigeons; and was an avid horse lover.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by Daughters: Brenda Spencer, Crawfordsville; Barbara Spees, Mace; Susie (Keefe) Davis, Lafayette; and a special friend he thought of as his adopted daughter, Jaci Cox, Mace. Sons: Rusty (friend-Patty Cornell), Crawfordsville; Gary (Colleen) Spencer, Crawfordsville; Brian Keith (Marlana) Spencer, New Ross; and Jeff (Robin) Spencer, Waveland. Also surviving are Sisters: Marie Lee and Sharon Diamond, both of California, and Carol (Charlie) Thomas, Nashville, Indiana; and Brother: Mike (Marcia) Spencer, Mississippi: 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Jackie and Robert Spencer, and granddaughter, Heidi Swinford.

Cremation was selected with a Celebration of Life to be held Thursday, July 21, at 6:30 PM, at the Mace United Methodist Church, Highway 136, Mace, Indiana, with Pastor Rodger Ward officiating. The family will
