Linda Karen Howard

Linda K. Howard, age 77, passed away on August 9, 2026 at St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis. She was born on February 10, 1949 to Tony and Nola (Pettyjohn) Klepzig in Shelbyville, IL. Linda married Jerry Howard on March 26, 1966 in Crawfordsville, spending over 47 years together until his passing in 2013. 

She attended Alamo High School. Linda worked at Raybestos, the deli counter at Crawfords Food Store, and retired from Pace Dairy after over 30 years. She was a devoted Christian, serving in fellowship with a local non-denominational group in Crawfordsville. 

Linda was a skilled seamstress and crocheter, making blankets, dresses, hats and booties for the Ronald McDonald house. She was an MVP softball player and enjoyed volleyball and water skiing in her younger years. Linda was also active with the rodeo and barrel racing. She was the first woman to have a motorcycle in Shelbyville, taking her friends and family on rides around the town. The family took several camping trips in Michigan and she enjoyed spending time with her family while they fished. 

Linda is survived by her sons, Dwayne (Michelle) Howard and Dennis Howard; grandchildren, Cheyenne (Ty) Williams, Cody Howard, Tyler Howard; great grandchildren, Lilly Williams, Clare Howard, Weston Williams, Daniel Williams, Tyler Howard Jr., Jane Howard and Nola Williams; siblings, Ron Klepzig, Dave (Carol) Klepzig, May Piasecki and Lesa (Patrick) Morgan; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded by her parents; husband, Jerry; daughter, Donna Leak; and infant son, Daniel Howard. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Sanders Funeral Care, 315 S Washington Street in Crawfordsville from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Oak Hill North Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to Jerry. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
