Lonnie Gene Deel

Mr. Lonnie Gene Deel, 68, Crawfordsville, passed away in his home Friday, August 28th. He was born October 21, 1946 in Orange County, Indiana, to Charles and Kathleen (Jackson) Deel. They preceded him in death.

Mr. Deel was trained as a Welder and a Carpenter. He also had worked at Dollar General Store before he retired. He was baptized in the First Assembly of God Church. He was an avid animal lover and had two cats. He also had a love of sailboats and had a dream of one day sailing in the Virgin Islands. Lonnie was always friendly and you could always count on him for a smile. Lonnie loved helping others, especially his neighbors, when they needed assistance in getting to and from various places.

Lonnie is survived by his brother: David w. Deel, of Lafayette; his aunt, Ethel Deel, Lafayette; 5 nephews and 1 niece. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Deel; and a nephew.

Cremation was chosen with a Memorial Service to be held on Wednesday, September 9th, at 5:00 PM, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Rev. Kurt Flora officiating. Lonnie will be laid to rest in the Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
