Michael Lawrence Colosino, age 99 of Crawfordsville and formerly of Valparaiso, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023. He was born in Monongah, West Virginia on January 24, 1924 to the late Felix and Constance Colosino. He attended Monongah High School then proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He served during the battle of Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe and was awarded two purple hearts.
On January 20, 1950 he married the love of his life, Alfretta (Blocker) Colosino, she preceded him in death on January 28, 1993. Throughout the years he worked in the Steel industry for 40 years at Bethlehem Steel in Burns Harbor, Indiana. He loved playing golf and had 11 holes-in-one, loved tinkering in the garage, and made life-long friends everywhere he went.
He is survived by a son, James Colosino of Danville, Indiana; two granddaughters, Kelly (Ryan) Needham of Crawfordsville and Molly (Zane) Roe of Indianapolis; four great grandchildren, Landon Mohundro, Emily Needham, Charlotte Roe, and Emma Roe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alfretta; three brothers, Fred, Daniel, and Louis; four sisters, Joanne, Virginia, Carmella, and Minnie, and daughter-in-law, Teresa Colosino.
Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S Washington St, in Crawfordsville on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 11:00am till the time of the funeral service at 1:00pm with military honors by the United States Army and Legion Post 72 Honor Guard.
