Mindy Renee Ferguson

Mindy Renee (Smith) Ferguson, age 61 of Veedersburg, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Danville, Illinois on February 9, 1965 to the late Joe C. Smith and Shirley Joan (Cowan) Bahls.

Mindy graduated from Fountain Central High School in 1983 and Ivy Tech in Lafayette. Family was everything to Mindy and she took immense pride in her grandchildren, who filled her life with indescribable happiness. Mindy had a zest for life that included bingo nights, shopping trips, and discovering new restaurants, but nothing compared to the time she spent making memories with her family.

She is survived by her two children, Shayne (Brianna) DeLong of Veedersburg and Shurlia DeLong of Crawfordsville; and seven grandchildren, Broedy, Brayden, Braxtyn, Creed, Eastyn, Sebastian and Savannah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Bethany DeLong; three brothers, Joe, David, and Steven Smith and a sister, Wendy Mortimore.

Cremation was chosen with a Graveside Service at Rockfield Cemetery, 814 S Rockfield Road, in Veedersburg, on Friday, October 16, 2026 at 1:00pm.
