Otis L. Huckstep

Otis L. Huckstep, 79 of Crawfordsville, Indiana, passed away on August 6, 2026 at Franciscan Health in Greenwood. He was born on April 28, 1947, in Lebanon, Indiana, to Harold and Marguerite (Hedge) Huckstep.

Otis grew up in Jamestown, Indiana, and graduated from Granville Wells High School in 1965. In 1966, he enlisted in the US Air Force, where he proudly served for four years. Otis dedicated 42 years of his career to the grocery industry, working in a variety of roles at Standard Grocery, Crawfords, and County Market in Crawfordsville.

On December 24, 1966, Otis married Darlene Pace at Jamestown Christian Church. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Darlene; daughters, Michele (Brian) Neary and Melanie Huckstep; grandchildren, Brianna and Joshua Neary; and siblings, Pat Cowan, Jeanie Miner, and Charlie Huckstep. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law, Don Haynes, Wayne Miner, and James Cowan.

Otis will be remembered for his mischievous spirit, his willingness to help others, and his love of ice cream. His kindness, laughter and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
