Pamela Elaine "Pam" (Woodrow) Abernathy was born in Covington, Indiana on September 6, 1947, to Forrest and Wilma (Zachmire) Woodrow. She grew up in rural Veedersburg, Indiana. She attended Rabb School, Covington School and graduated from Fountain Central High School in 1979. On May 29, 1965, Pam married Gary Abernathy, beginning a lifetime of love, family, and cherished memories. Together, they raised three daughters and spent most of their married life in Kingman, Indiana. In their later years, Pam and Gary returned to Gary's childhood home, where they continued to enjoy the simple pleasures of life together. Pam was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from her family.

She is survived by her three daughters: Angela (Jim) Herman, Lori Abernathy (Chris Colson), and Melanie (Wayne) Reissmann; six grandchildren: Amanda (Zach) Kilby, Jordan (Joy) Shoaf, Wesley (Cassie) Cottrel, Alexis (Joe) Conkright, Megan (John) Kilgore, and Devin Reissmann; and seven great-grandchildren: Logan, Savannah, Charlotte, Maven, Ridge, Elliott and Aria. She is also survived by her brother, Max Woodrow, and her special friend, Joye Jones-Dannenbring.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Wilma Woodrow; her beloved husband of 52 years, Gary Abernathy; and her brother, Rex Woodrow.

Pam had a special love for gardening and took great pride in growing beautiful flowers. As a member of the Wacky Weeders Garden Club, she shared her passion for gardening with others who appreciated the beauty of nature. Her talents extended well beyond the flower garden. Pam enjoyed growing vegetables and spent countless hours canning and preserving the fruits of her labor. Her pantry was a reflection of her hard work and dedication, filled with food she had lovingly grown and preserved to feed her family and share with others. For Pam, gardening, cooking, and preserving food were more than hobbies; they were ways of showing love and caring for those around her. Pam was also a wonderful cook and baker who enjoyed preparing delicious meals and homemade treats. She found joy in painting, knitting, quilting, and reading a good book. She also enjoyed her time as a Girl Scout leader, sharing her creativity, knowledge, and encouragement with young girls.

A member of West Liberty Church of Christ, Pam enjoyed participating in church activities and generously sharing her baking talents. She especially enjoyed preparing desserts for church auctions and funeral dinners, always willing to lend a helping hand and contribute something homemade. Throughout her life, Pam was a homemaker who devoted herself to caring for her family. She also worked as a school bus driver for Southeast Fountain School Corporation, a role that allowed her to be part of the lives of many children in her community. Pam treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. Pam will be remembered for her beautiful flowers, her homemade meals, her many creative talents, and the love she poured into everything she did. Whether she was tending her garden, preserving the harvest, baking something special, or spending time with her family, Pam found happiness in life's simple blessings. Her greatest legacy is the family she loved, the traditions she created, and the countless memories that will continue to bloom in the hearts of those who knew her.
