Crawfordsville

Listen to Obituary

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Randy A.Borden, loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to whose lives he touched. His words of encouragement, wisdom, and comfort always gave us strength in times of weakness.

Randy A. Borden, 69, of Crawfordsville, passed away on Monday January 26, 2026, at the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago. He was born September 11, 1956, to the late Ruth and Monroe Borden of Crawfordsville.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Michele Weir Borden; daughter Ashley (Ryan) Tice; son Andrew (Anne) Borden; brother, Keith (Adrianne) Borden, grandchildren Taylor & Alexandria Tice and John Borden; and many good friends. He embodied his favorite quote from It's a Wonderful Life: "No man is a failure who has friends."

Randy grew up farming and continued a successful farming operation, retiring in 2022. The youngest of four brothers, he was tenacious from the start-exhausting his parents with his strong will and endless energy. This shaped a lifelong habit of being a hardworking and honest man.

Ultimately, his true passion was family. Nothing brought greater accomplishment or joy than seeing his children raise their own-watching Taylor play basketball, Alexandria dance, or little John (age 2) get into everything.

In his later years, Randy battled rheumatoid arthritis (RA). In his final days he suffered inflammation likely related to it.

He was preceded in death by parents, Ruth and Monroe Borden; his brother Carrol and wife Charlotte; brother Gerrald; brother-in-laws Dennis and Derrick Weir; mother-in-law Mary Weir Wommack; cousin Kim Murphy; and two close friends, Randy Francis and John Dillinger.

The visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Care, 315 South Washington St. Crawfordsville on Saturday February 7th, 2026,from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 2pm. A private family burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
