Rita Jayne (Kelsey) Pinkerton

Rita Jayne (Kelsey) Pinkerton, age 77 of Indianapolis, passed away on March 29, 2026 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on August 15, 1948 to Norris and Virginia (Bannon) Kelsey in Crawfordsville. Rita married Charles "Ed" Pinkerton on September 18, 1971, spending 27 loving years together until his passing on May 9, 1998. 

Rita was a graduate of New Market High School, Class of 1966. She continued her education at Wishard and became a Registered Nurse, working at local hospitals in Marion County throughout her career. Rita was also a longtime member of New Market First Baptist Church. She often enjoyed various arts and crafts in her spare time, particularly crocheting and knitting. Rita enjoyed playing Euchre with family and friends. 

Rita was predeceased by her parents; husband, Ed; daughter, Cindy Meagher; sister, Janet Norman; in-laws, Grace and Carl Pinkerton; and brothers-in-law, Dean Norman and Frank Powers. 

She will be missed by her surviving family, grandchildren, Eric Meagher and Elizabeth Meagher; sister, Nancy Powers; and nieces and nephews, Chris and Tim Norman, Joe Powers and Jami Dugger; and several great nieces and nephews. 

Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Oak Hill North Cemetery, 392 Oak Hill Road in Crawfordsville. Share memories and condolences at www.SandersFuneralCare.com.
