Robert A. Sering

Mr. Robert A. Sering, age 79, of rural Crawfordsville, IN. passed away Saturday afternoon March 7th while a resident of Ben Hur Nursing Home. bob was born on November 21, 1940 at Crawfordsville, IN. the son of Kenneth William and Virginia Louise (nee Priest) Sering. Bob graduated from Crawfordsville high School and joined the US Navy serving from September 1959 to September 1963. Bob married his bride Norma Phelps Sering on August 8, 1960 and they raised their family while he worked as a machinist for B&L Engineering, Hudson Tool and Machine Shop both of Crawfordsville, IN and Elwell Machines in Cleveland, Ohio before he retired. He had also served as a member of the Crawfordsville Police Dept. from 1964 to 1968. Bob is survived by his wife Norma Sering of Crawfordsville, IN. , his son Tim (wife Deborah) Sering of Dalington, IN. and daughters Laura (husband Bill) Wethington and Sally (husband Brian) Seidnitzer both of Hampton VA.,  sisters in law Linda Sering and Hazel Sering and brother in law Bill Watson. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Virginia and Dana Sering, Penelope Dossey, Charlotte and Carlton Wethington, Russell Chastain, Kenneth and Aaron Madrid and Alexander Jones and 5 great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his brothers John Samel and Roger Sering and his sister Judith Sue Watson and his best friend Wally Finitzer.

A simple cremation was chosen and a private burial of his ashes will take place at the Wallace Lutheran Cemetery. Shoemaker Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with these arrangements.
