Mrs. Sophia L. Carr (Sofa'imalo Lago'o) 74, Crawfordsville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 8th, at 11:00 PM, in her home with her loving husband, Clifton, by her side. She was born December 6th, 1940, in Ofu Manu'a, American Samoa, to Tala'ileva Samuela Lago'o Alaalamoa and Pipi'imale'ele'ele Autele Lago'o. She married Clifton L. Carr on October 8th, 1960, in Hawaii.
Mrs. Carr had worked for over 20 years as an Assembler at Hi-Tech Lighting and earlier had worked at the J. C. Penney Store in the Crawfordsville Mall. She graduated from high school in American Samoa; was a member of the League of Women Voters and the Crawfordsville American Legion and VFW Post Auxilliaries. In her free time she enjoyed her flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters: Lucille Flaur, Montgomery County; Connie Carr, Crawfordsville; Phyllis Sue Van, Ladoga; and Amanda (Todd) Douglas) Crawfordsville. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; 6 brothers; and 6 sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, September 12th, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Rev. Vernon Dowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill South Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM
