Virginia Emmalee (Newcomb) Rutledge, age 89, of Kingman passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 at St Vincent Hospital in Williamsport. She was born on January 7, 1931 in Scottland, IL to Homer and Geraldine (Brooks) Newcomb.
Emmalee was a loving mother and homemaker and retired as a secretary from the State Highway Department in Veedersburg. She loved the outdoors; sitting and watching hummingbirds, enjoyed fishing, loved playing bingo, and spending time with family. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 384 and held every post from secretary to president.
She is survived by three sons, Andrew "Rocky" (Tena Clinton) Rutledge, Wesley (Tammy) Rutledge, and Ben Rutledge Sr; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer (Lucas) Rutledge, Natalie (Adam) Hayman, Ben Jr. (Missy) Rutledge, Jason (Angel) Rutledge, Stephanie (Tim) Mowls, and Nicole (Jerry) Rutledge; 19 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; special friends, Rick & Jane Keller; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kevin Joe Rutledge; a brother, George H. Newcomb; and a grandson, Junior Rutledge.
Visitation will be held at Sanders Funeral Care on Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 11:00am until the time of the service at 12:00pm with Pastor Steve Crum officiating. Social distancing is expected and limited numbers will be allowed to enter at a time. The service will be live-streamed and recorded, which can be viewed on Emmalee’s obituary page at www.sandersfuneralcare.com. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Scottland, IL.
