William Robert Edwards

William "Bill" Robert Edwards, age 87, of Waynetown, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at Franciscan Health Lafayette. He was born in Illinois on December 21, 1938 to the late Clinton and Margaret Edwards. Bill was raised by his grandparents Bob and Daisy Jones.

Bill graduated from Waynetown High School, class of 1958. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1958 until 1962. Following his military service, he found a fulfilling career at RR Donnelley and Sons, where he worked as a Graphic Designer. Bill married the love of his life, Carol Ann Ridge, on November 8, 1958.

A man of many passions, Bill was an avid NASCAR and Chicago Cubs fan. He treasured his time spent in his workshop, crafting and building with his hands. Bill found joy in tending to his lawn with his John Deere, sharing stories, engaging in board games with his children and grandchildren, and watching his grandchildren play sports. His influence as a loving grandfather was profound; he taught his grandchild valuable life lessons in morals and the importance of having fun, all while ensuring their safety and happiness.

Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carol; children, Nanette (Mike) Watson, Natalie Cochran, Jeff (Patty) Edwards; grandchildren, Jeffrey Robbins, Justin Robbins, Nick Robbins, Ashlie Threlkeld, Zach Cochran, Jessica Cochran, Daisy Cochran, Stephanie Edwards, and Kohl Edwards; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Barb Ket, Jack Harper, Dale Harper, and Kenny Harper.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob and Daisy Jones; parents, Clinton Edwards and Margaret Harper; sister, Becky Anthrop; and son-in-law, Jim Cochran; great-granddaughter, Savannah Robbins.

Visitation will be held at Sanders Funeral Care, 202 Bratton Road in Waynetown on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 12:00pm until the time of funeral service 2:00 pm with Pastor Kurt Flora officiating.
