Bessie Mae (Freeman) Brown, age 84, of Crawfordsville, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Bickford Memory Care. She was born on April 29, 1936 to the late Harry and Ruby (Poling) Freeman.
Bessie graduated from Kingman High School 1954. She married the love of her life Marion Kenneth Brown on August 13, 1954. She started her career at Culver Union Hospital as a Housekeeper. She then went to being an aide at the Hospital before becoming a nurse. As an LPN, she worked for various Doctors in the area. Bessie enjoyed canning, cooking, collecting jars, and traveling. Bessie and her husband traveled to various places throughout the United States. They visited the United Arab Emirates twice to visit family. She loved antiques.
Bessie is survived by her husband of 65 years; four children, Martha (Rex) Mapes, Lora (Abdulla) Almarzooqi, Dennis Brown and Allen Brown; two sisters, Alice (John) Crum and Lillian Carty; a brother, Harry Lee Freeman; five grandchildren, Greg, Andria, Ryan, Jassem, and Jamal; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Tucker and Teagan; and a brother Thomas Freeman.
Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington Street in Crawfordsville on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be at the Funeral Home on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery.
