Obituary
Chester Allen "Al" McNew, age 71, of Ladoga, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at his home. He was born in Sullivan, Missouri on December 11, 1951 to the late Chester Louis and Sarah Elizabeth (Barnes) McNew.
Al graduated from North Knox High School in 1970 and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Architectural Design. Al spent his life working and was a dedicated worker. He was a 32nd degree Shriner. Al enjoyed spending time outdoors and traveling. He loved skydiving and earned his Diamond Wings for completing over 1,000 jumps. Al was even able to complete a jump over the Artic Circle.
Al or "Big Al", as he was known to many, was an ornery old man. He was a wonderful person to everybody. He loved people and spending time with his family. His favorite passion was giving people a hard time and he was good at it. The stories he told were one in a million.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Terry Lee Goodsen McNew; his daughter, Rita Elizabeth McNew; brother, Vic Ray McNew; sister, Sharon Hagmeier; two grandchildren, Myla Rayne Lavender and Hazel Leeann Englert; and nieces and nephew, Kim Robbins and Allen Ray McNew.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
