Dennis Ray Fruits

Dennis R. Fruits, age 73, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021 at his home with his wife at his side.

Born June 9, 1948 to Lewis and Rachel (Myers) Fruits. He grew up on the family farm near Alamo and graduated from Alamo High School in 1966. He served in the US Army from 1968 - 70 with a tour in Vietnam.

He worked at Raybestos for 35 years. Always an avid hunter and fisherman, in 1989 he and his two brothers started a project that lasted over 20 years to build a cabin and pond on the family farm. Dennis especially enjoyed having his hunting buddies stay at the cabin during deer season. Always a great cook, he never let anyone go home hungry.

On October 5, 1968, he married Judy Smith.

Dennis is survived by his wife; sisters Verda (Gene) Mills, Dema Delp; twin sister Dianna (Ron) Waye; sister- in-law, Shirley Fruits; brother, Jim (Reni) Fruits; brother-in-law, Terry (Sue) Smith; sister-in-law, Tina Will; and God Children, Stephanie Griswald, Stacey Williams, Matt Williams, and Clint Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Russell Fruits, and brother-in-law, Jay Delp.

Visitation will be held at Sanders Shoemaker Funeral Care 202 Bratton Road, in Waynetown, on Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 11:00 AM until the time of funeral service at 1:00 PM with Pastor Kevin Freischlag officiating. Burial will follow at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and Byron Cox Post 72 Honor Guard.
