Dorothy Mae (Odom) Simpson

Dorothy Mae (Odom) Simpson, age 86, of Crawfordsville, passed away Monday, April 6, 2020 at Ben Hur Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on April 30, 1933 to the late Leon and Eliza Blanche (Bauer) Odom.

In 1951, Dorothy graduated from Benton High school in Benton, Illinois. She married the love of her life Larry DeWayne Simpson on March 30, 1952, who preceded her in death on December 4, 2004. Dorothy was as member of Crawfordsville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed embroidery, word searches, studying the bible, and listening to country music.

Dorothy is survived by three sons, William (Marcie), Joseph (Loretta), and James Simpson; two daughters, Sarah Gullion and Patricia (Homer) Myers; daughter-in-law, Jeanie Simpson; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law’s, Joan Odom and Karen Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry; son, Kenneth Simpson; two brothers, Robert Odom and William “Tommy” Odom; and a sister, Wanda Erwin.

Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S Washington St, in Crawfordsville on Saturday, September 12, 2020 from 1:00pm till the time of the memorial service at 2:00pm with Bruce Bridgeham officiating. Family request face masks be worn and social distancing is expected.
