Mr. Gerald Leroy Snyder, 88, Waynetown, passed away peacefully at 7:35 PM on Sunday, August 27th, 2017, in the Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville. He was born June 30th, 1928, in Calumet City, Illinois, to Earl M. and Edith E. (Smith) Snyder.He first married Clara Lowe in 1948 at Waynetown.She preceded him in death on August 8th, 2000.He later married Emily Jeane Shearer in Florida on February 5th, 2005..She survives.

Gerald was a Retired Farmer.He graduated from Waynetown High School; was a member of the Yountsville Non-Denominational Church; was a member of the Alamo Masonic Lodge, #144; and in his free time he enjoyed playing, and was very good at, shuffleboard.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Mark (Tammy) Snyder, New Market; Harold Snyder, Waynetown; and Rhoda (Gary) Grimes, Crawfordsville.Also surviving are step-children: Bruce (Gayle) Shearer; Susan (Mark) Henschen, both of Ft. Wayne; his sister: Earleen (Michael) Flynn, Lake Holiday; 7 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his sister: Helen Ellis; and his grandson: Keith Snyder.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, August 31st, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Rev. Doug Givan officiating.Burial will follow in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 30th, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.Masonic services will be held at 7:00 PM in the funeral home on Wednesday
