Janice "Jan" Rae (Foster) Burch

Janice “Jan” Rae (Foster) Burch, age 80 of Tangier, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Waters of Covington Nursing Home.  She was born in Clinton, Iowa on September 12, 1938 to the late Robert John & Elizabeth (Stone) Foster.

Jan graduated from Brevard High School in North Carolina and on March 22, 1957 she married Thomas Edward Burch, who preceded her in death on June 18, 2017.  She was a loving mother, homemaker, and helped on the family farm.  She enjoyed embroidering, needlework, crocheting, ceramics, loved horses, and was an avid reader.  She was a member of the Tangier Homemakers Club and helped out in Cubs Scouts and Girls Scouts.

Jan is survived by 5 sons, David (Lori) Burch, Tony Burch, Bryan (Peggy) Burch, Bill (Kelly) Burch, Matthew (Tami) Burch; 4 daughters, Jean (Craig) Spriestersbach, Lee Anne (Ted) Cummings, Lori Jane (Steve) Malone, and Debbie (Paul) Green; her twin sister, Jean (Paul) Ricketts and sister, Carol (Don) Anderson; 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one on the way; and hundreds of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom; a brother, Robert E. Foster; a daughter-in-law, Patty Burch; and two infant children.
