Jeanette (Smith) Newlin, age 61 of Crawfordsville, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2020 at home while surrounded by her loved ones.

Jeanette was born in Crawfordsville on July 8, 1959 to Charles and Barbara (Harvey) Smith. She graduated from South Montgomery High School in 1977 and on March 26, 1977, Jeanette married the love of her life, Mike Newlin.

Jeanette loved watching her grandson play sports, exercising with her friend, Brenda Edwards, she loved the holidays and spending time with her family; she taught exercise classes for many years, spending time with her friends Brenda Edwards and Gayle Adams and her sister-in-law, Trudy Earley, a friend who meant so much to her. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Mike; daughter, Brandy (Jeremy) Bennett; grandson, Owen Bennett; mother, Barbara Smith; sister, Sharon (Brian) Sillery; brother, Roy (Cindy) Smith; nieces, Christin Fisher and Jennifer (Matthew) McGaughey; and great nieces, Karley and Charlotte Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Smith and her brother, Charles Smith Jr.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service at Friendship Baptist Church, 1981 Oak Hill Road, Crawfordsville, on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 11:00am with Pastor Chris Horton officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Jeanette’s name to the Marie Canine Cancer Center, 1706 Lafayette Ave, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
