Wynona "Winnie" Mae (Wendall) Starnes

Wynona "Winnie" M. Starnes, 89, passed away on May 4, 2023 at home. Winnie was born on August 25, 1933 to Wilfred and Kathryn (Harper) Wendall in Danville, Illinois. She married Harold Starnes on January 20, 1952 in Indianapolis and they spent 52 loving years together until his passing in 2004.
Winnie was a graduate of Waveland High School, Class of 1951, and Indiana Business College in Indianapolis. She was an active member of the Waveland Christians in Action Church. Winnie was an excellent Sunday School teacher and volunteered at all events held at the church. She loved crafting, especially knitting and quilting. Winnie also enjoyed reading and doing word puzzles.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kay Moore and Betty Hopkins for their love and support through the years.
Winnie is survived by her children, Gene Starnes (Rita) of Waveland and Carol Rogers (Hal) of Woodburn; 7 grandchildren, Mandy Stowell (Kevin), Megan Starnes, Harmony Jensen (Nik), Andrew J. Starnes (Paige), Nathan Rogers, Jill Kinder (Jarrad) and Jonathan "JT" Rogers; 8 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Ron Wendall and Rick Wilson. She is predeceased by her parents, husband and three brothers.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 11:00 am at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery on State Road 47 S outside of New Market. The service will be recorded and will be available to view on her obituary page.
